Stones thrown at cars and bins set on fire in North Belfast

The PSNI has branded young people who set bins on fire and threw stones at cars as "disappointing".

The incidents happened in Ligoniel and Ardoyne on Saturday night.

Police said that they will remain in the area tonight.

A spokesman said: "Disappointing effort by small groups of some young people in both Ligoniel and Ardoyne tonight after they set local residents wheelie bins on fire and threw stones at passing cars.

"And of course then some more at us when we arrived.

"Not sure what fun that would be when it’s cold and lashing down? We have sorted both fires and cleared both Marrowbone and Limegrove parks and we will continue to be in the area all evening."
