Stones pelted at Vande Bharat express at Andhra Pradesh's Khammam

VISAKHAPATNAM: Within 25 days span, miscreants pelted stones at Vande Bharat Express and damaged the window glass. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident. This time, the incident took place in Khammam town on Friday evening.

It is recalled that three persons hurled stones at Vande Bharat express during the trial run on January 11 in Visakhapatnam. The miscreants were identified and arrested. The train was commissioned on January 14 from Secunderabad to Vizag.

The recent incident delayed the start of the 20833 VSKP-SC Vande Bharat Express by about three hours and left the port city at 8.45 am instead of the scheduled time at 5.45 am due to the replacement of one emergency window glass of the C12 coach that was damaged.

Railway authorities informed that change of the window glass would take five to six hours. The train arrived at Vizag at 11.35 pm on Friday and was sent to the maintenance factory where the glass was changed. The DRM of Waltair Division Anup Kumar Satpathy said that the glass was damaged by miscreants, who hurled stones at Khammam, which were identified through CCTV footage. The RPF and local police have verified the CCTV footage and an investigation is going on. “Railways will take stringent action if anyone indulged in such incidents. Three persons were arrested in the incident that took place in Vizag on January 11. Rails are nation’s property and anyone involved in such incidents would not be spared by the authorities,” the Waltair DRM Satpathy warned.
