Stolen van found parked in the middle of Kirkby woods

Criminals who left a stolen van in woodland left behind forensic clues at the scene.

The white Citroen van was found by police parked up in a wood in the Tower Hill area of Kirkby.

Knowsley police said they were confident of finding the offenders after recovering forensic clues at the scene.

Police posted photographs of the van, which had been stolen from the Lancashire area.

Officers found the stolen van during an open land search.

Police also posted a comment on Facebook which read: "Officers from the Kirkby Community team conducted an open land search in the Tower Hill area. The officers stumbled across a van stolen from Lancashire parked in the wooded area.

"Thankfully, our offenders left more than enough clues to assist our forensic teams in identifying them.

"If you spot a suspicious vehicle like this - let us know via our website."
