Stolen puppies found after brazen thief nicked dogs in daylight raid on family home

Two adorable puppies have been reunited with their owner after being snatched from their home in East Lothian.

Police were called after the German Shepherd/Belgian Shepherd-cross pups were taken on Monday afternoon from a house in Prestonpans.

Their heartbroken owner, Debbie Smith, issued a desperate appeal for information after discovering a raider had walked into the home she shares with her young son.

The 31-year-old told how she had “never been so scared in all my life” following the callous theft and preyed they were “safe and well”.

Police confirmed they were called to reports of the theft on October 12 and an investigation was launched.

The two female puppies were found on Wednesday and are thankfully unharmed following their ordeal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Following the report of two German Shepherd pups being stolen for an address in Prestonpans on Monday night, officers are pleased to report that both pups have been traced safe and well.

“Enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.

“Police Scotland would like to thank everyone who offered their assistance in relation to this matter.”
