Greater Manchester Police recovered a stolen Mercedes in the Walkden area, after a pursuit over several miles.
The Mercedes GLA220 was chased by police from Farnworth to Swinton, a distance of nearly five miles, on the evening of Monday, November 15th. During the pursuit, the stolen car drove on the wrong side of the road on the A666 and A580, forcing other vehicles out of the way.
The car was then abandoned in nearby Walkden, where police arrested three on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. Police reported that one of the people arrested was recalled to prison.
The Greater Manchester area has seen a spate of car thefts recently. In October, police reported there had been over 600 car thefts in just two months.
