Stolen Ford Fiesta recovered on border between Manchester and Salford

A stolen red Ford Fiesta was located and recovered close to the border between Manchester and Salford by police officers on Saturday night.

It was found by Greater Manchester Police Transport Unit officers as part of their Operation Custodian initiative, which had seen them patrolling the arterial routes in and out of the city centre.

The incident was recounted on the official Greater Manchester Police Salford Twitter account @GMPSalford, along with an accompanying photograph of the vehicle, in a 1.43am post on Sunday.

It read: " #GMPTransportUnit officers were out around the city again tonight as part of #OpCustodian. Whilst patrolling the arterial routes in/out of the city, we located and recovered an outstanding stolen Ford Fiesta, right on the Manchester/Salford border. #HappySaturday #CantTeachIt."

Members of the public are reminded not to report crimes via the Twitter account, but instead to call 101 for non-emergency matters and 999 in an emergency.
