Police have recovered two basset hounds from a house after they were stolen from a property in the East Midlands
Two people were arrested after the dogs were found at a house in the Hindley area of Wigan on Monday night , police said.
Police have said that the dogs were successfully recovered 'through the power of social media'.
The dogs were part of a pack of five hounds taken from Westerby Basset Hounds in Leicestershire in February, reports the Manchester Evening News.
A spokesperson for the owners said they were 'very happy to have them home', adding: "We hope there will be more good news in the following days."
The dogs are members of the only pack of working English basset hounds in Leicestershire.
Following the theft a huge social media campaign was launched in an attempt to return them to the owners.
Speaking at the time, kennel huntsman Sophie Cripps said: "It’s truly devastating for everyone involved and we urge as many people as possible to raise awareness and help us to bring these hounds back home to our kennels with the rest of the pack."
