Police are searching for three cars missing after a Fyshwick car dealership was hit by burglars overnight.

Although the Albany Street premises was protected by a steel security gate, the thieves rammed through the gate and drove the vehicles out.

Four vehicles were stolen during the incident, one of which was recovered by police a short time later.

It is the fastest hit on a Canberra car yard since December 2018 when Ashley Figura hit the Pickles Auctions site in Gladstone Street, Fyshwick, rammed the gate, and drove out seven cars in the space of 40 minutes, then returned the following night to cut a hole in the fence and steal two more.

Figura stashed the cars in the back yard of his mother's Crestwood home but was arrested and sentenced to four years' imprisonment.

Police are still searching for three of the missing vehicles from overnight.

They are a green Mini Cooper with NSW registration DJY44N, a Holden Commodore with ACT registration YOV089, and a Haval H6 with ACT registration YMI19X.

Police were called to the premises around 8.40am on Friday, although the burglary occurred some time before then.

Anyone with information or footage of vehicles or people acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website, quoting reference 6844609.

If any of these stolen cars is spotted by members of the public, they should notify police on 131 444.
