Stolen Bud Light truck plows through police cruiser as it flees cops

Indiana police have released body-worn camera video of a crash involving a stolen beer truck on 27 March.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said deputies received information regarding a stolen beer truck originating from Evansville.

The stolen semi was traveling westbound on Diamond Avenue near Resurrection Dr. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to comply, leading to a pursuit into Posey County.

A deputy exited his patrol vehicle to try to deploy stop sticks. Police said the suspect then steered the vehicle toward the deputy and struck a patrol vehicle, damaging the patrol unit, which resulted in the semi leaving the roadway and coming to rest in a field. The deputy was not struck and was not injured.

Police said pepperball rounds were used after the suspect refused to exit the vehicle.

The suspect has been identified as Randall Baker, age 41, of Evansville. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Baker is currently facing the following preliminary charges: attempted murder, auto theft criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, reckless operation of a tractor-trailer, and operating while intoxicated.
