Suspected stolen artwork and over £800,000 in cash was found and linked to a gallery heist that took place 50 years ago.
A series of dramatic police raids in Wirral uncovered the huge haul that may have come from the Williamson Art Gallery in 1970.
Officers carried out a warrant at a property on Cunningham Drive, Bromborough, on September 21 before releasing details to the public.
Inside the house a large amount of cash and some artwork were discovered and taken into evidence.
A 68-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing criminal property and theft.
Officers then raided a second house on Oakridge Close, in Birkenhead, where they recovered even more artwork.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "On 21 st September officers carried out another warrant at a property on Cunningham Drive, Bromborough relating to the theft of artwork from the Williamson Art Gallery dating back to 1970.
