The Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says the club’s Spanish striker Bojan Krkic is progressing well from his knee injury but will take more time to regain full fitness.
The forward made a swift impression at the Potters after his surprise move from Barcelona but suffered a cruciate ligament knee injury in January’s FA Cup tie against Rochdale which ruled him out for the season.
Krkic made his return in Sunday’s defeat against last season’s Primeira Liga runners-up Porto and played just over an hour. Hughes said he was happy with the striker’s progress, but insisted it would take time before the player was back to his best.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Hughes said: “It was good to give him a decent run-out because that’s what he now needs. It’s obvious at the moment that he is not quite there yet and he understands that but he will get there very soon, … it’s one of those things that will certainly take a bit of time.
“He is training every day with the rest of the group now, so we will continue to be patient with him and hopefully get him back sooner rather than later.”
