Stoke Gifford man faces jail after admitting intent to supply cocaine and heroin

A Stoke Gifford man who admitted intending to supply Class A has been told to expect prison.

Garfield Williams appeared before Bristol Crown Court today (February 15, 2021).

The 46-year-old, of Halls Gardens, pleaded guilty to charges of possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs cocaine and diamorphine in April 2019.

Sam Jones, defending, told the court there was no basis of plea and applied for a pre-sentence report on his client from the probation service.

Mr Jones said: "He is a man of good character who has employment and a family."

The Recorder of Bristol His Honour Judge Peter Blair QC ordered a pre-sentence report and adjourned sentence to March 22.

He told Williams: "By you pleading guilty the judge will be able to reduce the punishment that you would otherwise receive, because you have saved the court a lot of cost and a lot of time in avoiding a trial and so that's to be commended."

The judge said that Williams had not been convicted before and a probation report was important for the sentencing judge to glean as much background as possible about him and why he offended.

The judge bailed Williams, telling him: "Prison is the most likely outcome."
