Stoke City 'interested' in Nottingham Forest transfer as deadline day drama looms

Stoke City are said to be looking at Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook as a potential replacement for Harry Souttar.

Leicester City are targeting Souttar ahead of Tuesday night's transfer deadline, with reports suggesting a fresh £15million bid has been tabled by the Foxes.

According to Sky Sports, Stoke are "interested" in experienced centre-back Cook, who could be made available as Forest close in on Atletico Madrid defender Felipe.

Cook is reported to be "one of a few options" the Potters are considering should Souttar leave the bet365 Stadium before the transfer window closes.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday, Forest boss Steve Cooper admitted there could be some outgoings before the deadline.

“There’s definitely been interest in some players. But whether players leave will be down to whether it’s right on our terms,” said Cooper. “We never want to make life difficult for any player. But at the same time, we have to always do what’s right for the club.

“There are players who could leave. It’s all what-ifs at the moment. If someone comes in, then it might be an opportunity for somebody to leave. I’m not saying it’s the case, but some players might be thinking they might want to leave, but they can’t because they’re needed here.

“We have every scenario, in terms of ins and outs. What it will look like when the window closes, I can’t quite tell you. It could be nothing from now or it could be quite a lot. Let’s wait and see.”
