Stoke City 1 Hibs 1 as Scott Allan scores in final friendly of pre-season training camp

Hibs rounded off their pre-season training camp with a 1-1 draw against Stoke City.

Jack Ross made several changes to the team that lost to Accrington Stanley in midweek as Josh Dpig returned to the starting XI after having to self isolate.

D'Margio Wright-Phillips headed wide of the back post as the hosts threatened early on.

Hibs responded by opening the scoring. Ryan Porteous carried the ball out of defence before releasing Jamie Murphy on the left. The winger surged forward and pulled the ball back for the arriving Scott Allan, who swept home first time.

Alfie Doughty then should have levelled for Stoke but fired wide with the goal at his mercy. At the other end, Kevin Nisbet then headed wide with his first chance of the game.

Stoke thought they'd equalised ten minutes before the break, but former Hibee Steven Fletcher was denied a goal against his formative club by the offside flag.

Fletcher then dragged another effort wide before Doughty made no mistake on the stroke of half-time, drilling a low effort into the bottom corner to make it 1-1.

Will Goodwin missed a great chance after the break when he shot wide from near distance before Nisbet saw an effort saved.

Kieran Coates then missed another good opportunity before Stevie Mallan fired a free-kick wide.

A late Matt Macey save denied Goodwin again and the match finished 1-1, with Arsenal at Easter Road up next for the Scottish Premiership side.
