Stockwell stabbing: Young man knifed in fight near bus garage

A young man has been stabbed in a fight near a bus garage in south London.

Scotland Yard said a 27-year-old man had been airlifted to hospital after being attacked at Stockwell bus garage on Monday afternoon.

The area has been sealed off by police while investigations are carried out.

They later said the victim's injuries were "not life-threatening or life-changing."

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 1.35pm to Stockwell bus garage, SW4 to a report of a fight at the location between two men.

“On arrival police found a 27-year-old man suffering stab injuries.

“London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene and have taken the victim to a south London hospital.

“The severity of the victim’s injuries is not known at this time.

“Cordons are in place around Binfield Road.

“No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesman from Go Ahead London, who operate the garage, added: "I can confirm the incident took place close to, but off-site from, Stockwell Garage and it was a non-bus related matter, in that it didn't involve any members of staff or passengers.

"Local bus services are also operating normally."
