Stockport shooting: Man in hospital with serious injuries after witnesses heard 'three or four gunshots'

A man remains in hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in Stockport.

Police were called to reports of a shooting on Hollyhouse Drive, in Woodley, at around 7.15pm on Monday night (February 3).

A man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

He remains in hospital this morning with serious injuries, but is in a stable condition.

A police spokesman said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses reported hearing 'three or four gunshots' on Monday evening.

Dozens of police then flooded the scene and cordoned off a large area.

Forensic officers following reports of a shooting in Woodley (ASP)

The incident appeared to have taken place at the junction with Woodlands Avenue.

Forensic officers could be seen within the cordon combing the scene for clues.

They appeared to recover a number of items on the pavement.

No arrests have been made and officers are continuing to investigate.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police released last night said: "At around 7.15pm on Monday, February 3, 2020, police were called to reports of a firearms discharge on Hollyhouse Drive, Stockport.

"Emergency services attended and a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

"No arrests have been made.

"An investigation is underway."
