Motorola Stock Shows Rising Strength, Earns Key Rating Upgrade

Motorola Solutions continues its storied history at a brisk pace for a 95-year-old company. It's posted double-digit profit and sales growth this past year and some of its ratings are top-notch. On Wednesday, the Relative Strength (RS) Rating for Motorola stock climbed to 81, up from 78, passing a milestone along the way.

Research shows that stocks that go on to make the biggest gains tend to have an RS Rating of at least 80 in the early stages of their moves. Count Motorola stock among that group.

Motorola Stock Closing On Buy Point

The IBD 50 stock is trying to complete a flat base with a 299.43 buy point. See if the stock can clear the breakout price in volume at least 40% higher than normal. Motorola stock closed Wednesday at 280.51, down fractionally for the day.

Motorola Inc., founded in 1928, split in two in 2011. In the split, Motorola Solutions legally succeeded Motorola Inc. and the company spun off mobile devices maker Motorola Mobility, which was bought by Lenovo.

 

Highly ranked watchlist candidate Motorola Solutions reported 28% earnings growth last quarter to $2.65 per share. Revenue rose 12% to $2.4 billion. Keep an eye out for the company's next round of numbers on or around Nov. 2.
