Stock broker found dead in Patna office

PATNA: A stock broker was found dead with bullet injury mark in his chest inside his Sumati Palace office in Boring Road locality of Patna on Monday. The deceased, identified as Basant Singh, left a suicide note in which he mentioned about a complaint lodged against him by a couple, accusing him of duping them in the name of providing job. Basant, who belonged to Saran district and lived in a rented accommodation at Punaichak, mentioned in the suicide note that he had been used.

Patna SSP Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said, after looking at the body, it seems the incident took place at least 24 hours back. "There was one bullet mark in the chest. The weapon used was found in his hand."

When asked how come no one heard the gunshot sound, the SSP said the incident might have taken place on Saturday night or Sunday morning when other shops and offices in the complex were closed. Buddha Colony SHO Neehar Bhushan said a tea vendor, who used to supply tea to the offices in the complex, went to Basant's office in the basement and knocked the door. It was open. When he entered inside, the vendor saw him dead in his chair and informed others, who dialled 112 to inform the police.Police are investigating the case from both suicide and murder angle. Basant had an export-import business before he switched over to stock broking.
