Stirling man set up camcorder in Perthshire cafe toilet

A Stirling man has been ordered to complete a programme of treatment for sex offenders after admitting making recordings of people going to the bathroom at a Perthshire cafe.

Sheriff Euan Duthie also ordered Raymond Finlay (75) to be supervised by social workers over the next three years when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court for sentencing last week.

Finlay, of Cruckburn Wynd, Stirling, admitted setting up a camcorder device in a unisex toilet at Braco Coffee Shop on August 5, 2019 and making recordings of a named woman and a number of other unidentified diners using the lavatory that day.

Sheriff Duthie made Finlay agree to undertake the ‘Moving Forward, Making Changes’ programme, said to be an “intensive” treatment programme aimed at reducing the re-offending of men convicted of sexual offences.

The sheriff said Finlay would be put on the sex offenders register for three years too.
