Stirling Albion manager Kevin Rutkiewicz this week made winger Daniel Scally his ninth new signing of the summer.
The 21-year-old former Kilmarnock and Albion Rovers player has agreed a deal at Forthbank after spending last season with Forfar Athletic.
Scally made 19 appearances for the Loons and netted three times, including the club’s Goal of the Season against Clyde at Station Park. In the 2019/20 campaign he turned out 28 times for Albion Rovers and contributed five goals before his switch to Forfar.
The ex-St Mirren youth player was offered a new deal by the Angus club for 2021/22 but opted to move on and featured as a triallist for Airdrieonians in a pre-season match against Clyde.
Rutkiewicz has now made the winger his latest new recruit following the arrivals of Ray Grant (Alloa Athletic), Martin McNiff (Clyde), Nathan Flanagan (Annan Athletic), Adam Cummins (Stranraer), Dale Carrick (Airdrieonians), Marc Laird (Edinburgh City), Rabin Omar (Morton) and former Queen’s Park full-back Ciaran Summers, who recently returned to Scotland after a spell in Holland.
Scally could make his debut in tomorrow’s game against Stranraer at Stair Park as the Binos look to bounce back from 3-1 defeats to Kelty Hearts and Annan Athletic.
Influential midfielder Jack Leitch could also return for Albion’s first visit to Stranraer since a 2-2 draw in December, with the Blues then winning 1-0 and drawing 2-2 at Forthbank.
Stirling haven’t won any of the last eight meetings with the Stair Park outfit since a stunning 8-2 success in the south west corner of the country back in January 2009.
Stranraer lost manager Stevie Farrell to Dumbarton in the summer and have only played twice in cinch League Two under new boss Jamie Hamill. They kicked off with a 1-1 draw at Elgin then lost 3-0 at home to Annan but their trip to Cowdenbeath last weekend was postponed as the Blue Brazil were unable to field a team due to Covid issues.

Rutkiewicz was extremely unhappy with his side’s performance at Galabank on Saturday when Kurtis Roberts scored in a 3-1 defeat to an Annan team who fully deserved all three points.
He said: “It wasn’t good enough against Annan and the challenge now is to try to bounce back with a win at Stranraer. The target has to be to end the month with nine points and to do that we need to beat Stranraer this weekend and Albion Rovers next week.
“We were missing some big players in Jack Leitch and Marc Laird last week and obviously Paul McLean is a big loss but that can’t be an excuse. We have a lot of quality in the squad but we have not done the basics right in the last couple of games and that has to change quickly.”
