Stipe Miocic wants you to help save the world by drinking beer on Cinco de Mayo

Not a bad task to be assigned by the UFC heavyweight champ, right?

Stipe Miocic is partnering with his sponsors at Modelo to help raise money for the First Responders First initiative as part of the beer company’s #CincUp campaign.

Modelo has already donated $500,000 to the First Responders First, an initiative established by Harvard T.H. Chan of School of Public Health, Thrive Global and the CAA Foundation. But on May 5, Modelo will donate up to another $500,000 to help provide the resources first responders continue to need in the ongoing battle against COVID-19.

All you have to do to help is enjoy a Modelo on May 5 (assuming you are 21 or over), then take to social media to make a toast with the hashtag #CincUp.

It’s that easy.

Miocic told MMA Junkie he’s proud of Modelo’s efforts to support healthcare professionals involved in the ongoing work against the current coronavirus pandemic.

“They’re such an amazing company,” Miocic told MMA Junkie. “They’re all about giving back. They’re always looking to help out. It’s amazing, and of course I was on board right away, no questions asked.”

It’s a battle that hits close to home for Miocic, who is currently putting his UFC plans on hold to focus on his duties as a firefighter and paramedic on his native Ohio.

“Honestly, it sucks being home quarantined, but just being more clean, being more cautious when I go to work,” Miocic said. “I’m being smart. I check my temperature before I get to the station. When I walk through the station, I make sure I wear goggles, mask, and gloves if I have to, an apron. But so far, so good.”

Miocic said he knows the coronavirus impact has been massive on all aspects of life in the U.S., but he believes people’s actions have effectively slowed the spread.

“People are actually listening,” Miocic said.

Now you can help in another way, too. On Cinco de Mayo, just drink beer and post on social media. Not all heroes wear capes.
