Still-unemployed Dez Bryant reveals he wants to play for 49ers

FRISCO, Texas _ It's been more than six weeks since receiver Dez Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys.

And he remains unemployed.

He turned down an offer from the Baltimore Ravens. Outside of that, there has been no other real interest or contact.

But Bryant has one favored team in mind: The San Francisco 49ers.

He revealed, then deleted, the 49ers while answering a fan's question on Instagram over the weekend.

It was a simple question of which team he'd like to play for. Bryant answered:

"49ers."

He then deleted the comment.

But NinersNation.com has a screenshot of the comment.

The answer speaks to developing-mental process Bryant has gone through since being released by the Cowboys April 13.

He initially said he wanted to play for a team in the NFC East so he could play the Cowboys twice a season and make them pay.

He spent time working out with New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

But the Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins have shown no interest.

Again, he turned down a three-year, $21 million offer from the Baltimore Ravens.

And while now-retired Cowboys tight end Jason Witten believed that the Green Bay Packers would make the most sense for Bryant because of the presence of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Rodgers himself shot down that notion, pointing out that if Packers wanted a veteran receiver they should have kept Jordy Nelson.

The 49ers have 11 receivers on their roster with Pierre Garcon and former Texas star Marquise Goodwin leading the pack.
