'Still miss you!' Arsenal & Palace fans have their say as Marouane Chamakh announces retirement

Former Arsenal and Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh has announced his retirement from professional football three years after he left Cardiff City.

Chamakh played for Arsenal from 2010 to 2013 after arriving from Bordeaux following an eight-year career with the French side.

The former Morocco international didn't live up to expectations at Arsenal as he bagged only eight goals in the Premier League.

A short loan spell at West Ham United was followed by a move to Palace in 2013 but he would go on to only net seven league goals for the club, though some fans do remember him fondly.

Chamakh didn't announce his retirement three years ago when he left Cardiff after playing just two Championship games, but the 35-year-old has now admitted defeat.

"It's been two years since I really played football. I wanted to get closer to my family, and today I can say that I have retired from football," Chamakh told French TV show L'Expresso.

"I'm going to try to pass my degrees, I'm going to do things little by little and seriously, whether as a consultant or coach, but I feel that it's something that I miss."

Arsenal and Palace fans have since reacted to the news by providing some mixed responses which you can see below.
