'Still got it' - Manchester United fans spot Cristiano Ronaldo injury solution in Legends match

Manchester United fans think Dimitar Berbatov could still be their saviour up front amid reports Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the final game of the season.

Berbatov was back at Old Trafford on Saturday as he starred in the Legends of the North game for United against old rivals Liverpool. The Bulgarian was among a host of stars pulling on the shirt once again, with Gary Neville, Patrice Evra and Jaap Stam also in action.

It was Berbatov though that caught the eye for fans watching on, with the former striker a bright spark in an otherwise uneventful first half before getting himself on the scoresheet after the break. Having fallen behind to Luis Garcia’s opener, the 41-year-old was brought down in the penalty area just moments later to present United with an immediate chance to equalise.

Berbatov picked himself up to take the spot kick himself, and despatched his penalty in typically cool fashion to draw the hosts level. And plenty of fans are now calling for him to make a return to the current United side.

Reports have suggested that Ronaldo will miss out on the Reds’ final game of the season at Crystal Palace on Sunday through injury. With United still having work to do to secure a Europa League spot for next season, supporters think Berbatov could provide them with a solution.

Berbatov’s afternoon didn’t last much longer thereafter as the Bulgarian made way just after the hour mark, with the hosts falling behind again shortly after. Regardless of the result, the former striker certainly didn’t look out of place back on the Old Trafford turf.
