Still Game fan tricks ScotRail employee into searching for fictional Craiglang station

A ScotRail employee has been “had” after desperately searching for services to the fictional setting of Still Game.

A customer jokingly contacted the rail operator asking about a train timetable to Craiglang, where main characters Jack and Victor spend their days enjoying a few pints with the regulars down at The Clansman.

However, the helpful worker, identified only as “Paul”, did not understand the gag and performed a “frantic” search for the fictional station.

After several attempts returned no results, Paul - who is not from Scotland - consulted with his colleagues, only to be informed the town was not actually real and instead was the setting for the cult BBC Scotland comedy.

A tweet posted by the rail operator on Wednesday morning read: “A customer recently contacted us for details of services to #Craiglang. ^Paul was on shift and not being from Scotland sought help from his colleagues after his frantic searching for this station and its services came back blank.

“You’ve been had Paul.”

The show, which aired its final series last year, is filmed in a variety of locations across Glasgow, with a flat block in the Maryhill area of the city playing the part of the duo’s ‘Osprey Heights’ building.

Navid’s convenience store can still be found in the Townhead, while The Clansman, which was renamed Jenny’s Pub later in the series, was originally known as The Gimlet in Glasgow’s Ruchill area.

However it was demolished in 2004, forcing production to build a replica for filming purposes.

The comedy aired its heartfelt final episode on March 28, 2019, with Jack and Victor wandering up Ben Lomond before fading away, along with the rest of the cast regulars, in the final shots.

It is unknown whether Craiglang’s railway line suffered the same fate.
