A fundraiser has been launched to get urgent surgery for a dog who starred in Still Game.
Beautiful Sheldon, who played Zeus in the iconic Glasgow sitcom in 2016, desperately needs an eye operation to stop him from going blind. The surgery will cost approximately £8,000, prompting Sheldon's owners to launch a fundraising appeal.
'Zeus' made an appearance in series seven of the hit show in an episode called 'Heavy Petting', in which Jack and Victor embark on the ups and downs of becoming dogsitters.
Describing Sheldon's condition on a gofundme page, his owners say: "The gorgeous Sheldon (who played Zeus in Still Game in 2016) is desperately needing help, he has to have eye surgery in both eyes next week.
"He was at an eye specialist today and for the operation it’s costing around £8,000 providing there are no complications. Obviously any issues will increase this cost.
"I have all the paperwork and quotes of exactly what they are doing if anyone wishes to see it. His insurance company (Animal Friends) are refusing to help with the cost as he had conjunctivitis a number of years ago and it could be linked. His vet and the specialist today have confirmed this is not the case yet they still refuse to cover the operation.
"He needs this operation as will risk total blindness if not.
"I know times are hard for everyone but please every penny will help. Many, many thanks and big slobbery kisses from Sheldon."

UPDATE: The dog's insurance company (Animal Friends) have confirmed to Glasgow Live they are now supporting the customer with making a claim for the operation in question.
