Rihanna has paid tribute to her former collaborator SOPHIE, who died aged 34 last week.
The pioneering musician, DJ and record producer died in “a sudden accident” in Athens on Saturday morning (30 January).
In a Twitter statement, SOPHIE’s record label Transgressive said: “Tragically our beautiful Sophie passed away this morning after a terrible accident. True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell. She will always be here with us. The family thank everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time.”
Rihanna has now paid tribute to the visionary electronic-pop artist, who worked with her on the 2016 album ANTI, writing on Twitter: “Still can’t believe this. Rest Peacefully Sophie.”
The singer also shared pictures of the pair working together.
SOPHIE shot to fame with the songs “Bipp” and “Lemonade” and received acclaim for her 2018 Grammy-nominated debut album Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides.
