Stewartry water tank converted into accommodation sold at auction

An unusual property in the north of the Stewartry has been sold at auction.

An underground water tank at North Liggat, near Carsphairn, has been converted into a space big enough to take a bed, with a roof, skylight and outside decking also added.

The bolt-hole was put up for auction for £19,000 but, after frantic bidding, sold for £23,000.

CEO of auctioneers Online Property Auctions Scotland George Douglas said: “This was an ideal opportunity for those
seeking seclusion and unspoiled views of the surrounding countryside.

“There is also potential for a development opportunity subject to planning, since there is easily enough room to accommodate a family home complete with garage and garden.

“The site comes with a generator for power sockets which have been added.

“I’m not surprised it attracted such a high level of interest.”
