Stewartry rider Rose Foley set to make international debut at Wellington CDI

A Stewartry rider will make her international debut next month.

Rose Foley and her pony Cordici K – called Gucci – have been chosen to represent Great Britain at the Wellington CDI in Hampshire.

Scores from the competition will count towards selection for European competition, which is Rose’s top goal for her last year in the pony classes.

Fifteen-year-old Rose is based at Barstobrick Equestrian Centre near Ringford where she is trained by her mum Isla.

Gucci is a 14-year-old 14.1hh German riding pony who Rose has had since December 2018 when he was finishing his rehabilitation from a serious injury.

They have built a strong partnership over the last two years, which saw them win the 2019 Scottish Dressage Pony and Rider of the Year award at the Scottish Equestrian Awards as well as a national title at last year’s winter dressage championships. 2020 also saw them win the Petplan Equine Elementary Under 21 Championship.

To be selected to ride for Great Britain a rider must obtain scores of at least 58
per cent from premier league and high profile shows in the FEI classes.

And as Rose and Gucci have managed that, they’ll be off to Hampshire for the Wellington CDI, which runs from May 11 to 16.

Long term, Rose is hoping for a career training and producing dressage horses and has some fantastic young horses for the future.
