Stewartry of Kirkcudbright wins SWI national Outdoor Bowling title for first time in 34 years

The Stewartry of Kirkcudbright has won the SWI National Outdoor Bowling Competition for the first time in 34 years.

Skip Jean McCartney, lead Anne Green and Helen Campbell, representing Townhead Rural, defeated Dumfriesshire in the final at Strathaven recently.

It was the fourth time the Stewartry has won the competition, which was first held in 1969 – the only year their opponents Dumfriesshire have lifted the trophy.
