Stewartry libraries and galleries back open in latest round of lockdown easing

Kirkcudbright Galleries has reopened its doors.

The popular visitor attraction was back open on Tuesday as the council begins reopening facilities following the easing of the coronavirus lockdown.

Admission to the former town hall is free. However, places must be booked in advance at www.ticketsource.co.uk/kirkcudbright-galleries to ensure social distancing can be enforced.

The gallery in the cafe is scheduled to reopen on September 1 – the same day the local authority also hopes to re-open the nearby Stewartry Museum.

This week also saw the reopening of three Stewartry libraries and customer service centres.

The sites in Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright are open on a limited basis due to current guidelines with the facilities in Dalry and Gatehouse remaining closed for the time being.

However, hours are limited due to current guidelines which also mean the facilities in Dalry and Gatehouse remain closed for the time being.

Library hours in Castle Douglas are 10am to 2pm Monday and Wednesday. PCs are available from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Monday
and 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday.

In Dalbeattie, the library is available from 10am to 2pm on Tuesday and Thursday with computers able to be used from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Monday and from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday.

And in Kirkcudbright, the library is open from 10am until 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdsy and from 10am to 1pm on Saturday. PCs are available between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Anyone making a visit must wear a face covering and provide contact details.
