Stewartry bowlers enjoy success at 2021 South of Scotland Women’s Bowling Association County finals

Stewartry bowlers were particularly successful in the South of Scotland Women’s Bowling Association County finals at Marchmount recently, winning three of the five titles at stake.

On Sunday, August 15 in the junior singles semi-finals, Sarah Lindsay beat Kiera Jack (Beechgrove) and her sister Lara beat Amy Broatch (Thornhill) to set up an all Creetown final.

The final was played on Monday, August 16 with Lara beating Sarah 21-10. Also on Monday, the pairs title was won by Debbie Cochrane and Emma Russell (Dalbeattie) with a 19-17 victory over Kerry and Maureen Love (Dumfries).

The Stewartry’s third title came in the fours, with Sam Sample, Madge Marshall, Margaret Cochrane and Alison McIntyre (Dalbeattie) beating Jan Oliver, Kerry and Maureen Love and Gina Laurie (Dumfries) 19-14.

In the singles, Debbie Cochrane (Dalbeattie) lost 21-12 to Zoe Kirk (Marchmount) and in the triples, Jan Oliver, Kerry Love and Gina Laurie (Dumfries) beat Zoe Kirk, Yvonne Hiddleston and Kirsty Haining (Marchmount) 16-8. The presentations were made by SSWBA President Margaret Gillies.
