Stewarton man in coma after being assaulted in Ibiza

A fundraising campaign has been launched after a Stewarton man was assaulted in Ibiza.

Gavin Roberton was on a stag do in the White Isle when he was attacked earlier this week and is now in a medically-induced coma.

The 26-year-old's mum, Kirsty McMaster has said he is in a stable condition at the moment.

Kirsty posted on Facebook: "I would just like everyone to know that Gavin is stable just now.

"It's going to be a long road ahead for us. If anyone knows of any dirt cheap accommodation around Ibiza old town please let me know. Thanks for everyone's support."

Almost £8000 has been raised in a bid to get Gavin back home to Stewarton.

A fundraising page launched by Angela Flanagan said: "Gavin was assaulted whilst on holiday in Ibiza, he is in a medically induced coma and faces a long hard fight to recovery, his mum and aunt have gone to be with him, they need our help with accommodation costs as they may be there for sometime, please donate whatever you can, I can assure you it will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Another Facebook fundraising page, set up by Elaine Scott stated: "Kirsty’s son Gavin is very unwell in Ibiza.

"He has a long road of recovery in front of him but unfortunately like a lot of young people he does not have insurance.

"I would urge anyone who knows Gavin or his family to help assist get Gavin home when he is ready but meantime his mum Kirsty and aunt Paula are in Ibiza and would value any donation to help with costs."
