Stewart Robertson elected to SPFL board as Rangers chief returns to league role

Stewart Robertson has been elected to the SPFL board for the new season.

The Rangers managing director is one of three top flight representatives along with two from the Championship and one each from League One and League Two.

Robertson stepped down last summer and was replaced by Celtic chief Peter Lawwell, and now the two have swapped seats again.

Lawwell has since quit his role as chief executive of Celtic and his replacement Dom McKay isn’t part of the board.

Robertson was involved in a public row with the SPFL board during his previous time there, after being critical of their handling of the Covid-19 situation in March 2020.

His position at the time was branded ‘untenable’ but he now returns alongside Hibs chairman Ron Gordon and Ross Count’s James McDonald.

They’ll serve alongside Neil Doncaster, Murdoch MacLennan and Karyn McCluskey.

The Championship representatives see Hamilton’s Les Gray and Dunfermline’s Ross McArthur joined by Forfar’s Alastair Donald and Paul Hetherington of Airdrieonians from League One and Two.
