Stewart in disbelief as he makes Hanlon & Stevenson Hibs claims

Michael Stewart has hit out at Hibernian after claiming the club has charged the families of outgoing legend Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson for hospitality tickets to their Easter Road farewell.

Hibs are alleged to have offered tables in the club's hospitality suite to the families of both players - who have a combined total of 35 years of service to the Edinburgh club.

Stewart claims that chief executive Ben Kensell has made both parties pay 'hundreds of pounds' for the privilege of seeing their loved ones - Hanlon and Stevenson - playing one last time at Easter Road, though.

Motherwell are in Leith tonight for the bottom six dead rubber, in what is sure to be an emotional send-off for both players from the home crowd.

In disbelief at what he'd heard, Stewart took to Instagram to make the claims against his former employer.

Outraged, he said in a video: "Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson’s final home game for Hibs.

"These are two guys who have given their whole careers to the club. And whether you think they have been brilliant, average or poor players is actually irrelevant – they deserve to be given a great deal of respect.

"And do you think it’s respectful for the club – ie the chief executive – to give a table to the families for the final game so they can come and see their dads, husbands, sons going and getting their final game at Easter Road?

"Do you think it’s respectful to expect those families to pay hundreds of pounds for a table in the hospitality suite?

"Do you not think it would be a pretty respectful gesture to give a table to the families? I certainly do and it’s poor practice to be expecting them to be paying out their own pocket to go along and see them off on their last day at Easter Road.

"Little things like that create a toxic culture and create an environment where folk don’t want to be there and that shouldn’t be the case at a club like Hibs."

It's understood the issue has now been resolved between the players' families and the club.

It comes just one day after David Gray was placed in temporary charge of the team for the final two matches of the campaign after Nick Montgomery was sacked.
