Stevie’s big day out: Great news after eagle-eyed Edinburgh Live reader finds dog

An eagle-eyed Edinburgh Live reader has helped re-unite a lost dog with her family, we are happy to report.

Yesterday we told the story of Stevie, a former Romanian street dog who ran away from her new owners in Bruntsfield after spending just two days with them.

The little dog had a big day out with sightings all over the city as her owners chased after her.

Her distraught owners Catherine and Ian spent all day searching the streets of Edinburgh for Stevie, speaking to Edinburgh Live yesterday, a tearful Catherine described their fruitless search from Bruntsfield to Leith, the Castle to St. Mark’s Park following reported sightings – but with no luck.

The couple had given up and gone home for the night when they received a phonecall – Catherine said: “We’d got our pyjamas on and were about to go to bed but then we got a call from a man in Bruntsfield.

“He said he’d spotted the story on Edinburgh Live and recognised Stevie right away. He said he’d seen her just half an hour ago.”

Naughty Stevie had quite an adventure yesterday (Facebook / Edinburgh and Lothian lost dogs)

The tip was too good to ignore so Ian and Emma got back in the car and headed to Canonmills  where the kindly couple helped them find Stevie.

After a lot of coaxing and cajoling Stevie was picked up by Ian and taken home. Catherine said a big thank you to everyone who helped in the search for Stevie yesterday, especially the eagle-eyed Edinburgh Live reader who eventually reunited them.

“We’re so delighted to have her back” Catherine said.

She especially wanted to thank Greg and Val from the Royal Navy and Royal Marine Association Club and the owner of Sir Barkalot dog walking services who helped get Stevie back.

Here’s hoping that after her big day out, little Stevie has had enough adventure for now.
