Stevie Mallan Hibs transfer latest as St Mirren loan rumours are addressed

St Mirren are not expected to make a loan move for Hibs midfielder Stevie Mallan.

The former Scotland Under 21 international has found regular game time hard to come by this season at Easter Road.

And the former Buddie now faces even more competition after Jack Ross added midfielders Jackson Irvine and Chris Cadden to his squad.

Reports emerged last week claiming that St Mirren were considering a loan move for Mallan, who started his career in Paisley before making the move south to Barnsley.

But the Paisley Daily Express understands a move for Mallan from Saints isn’t likely this month.

Mallan arrived in Leith two-and-a-half years ago under Neil Lennon, who snapped him up on a four-year deal.

He made a great start to his Hibs career, regularly scoring spectacular goals and proving to be a real danger from set pieces.

But his influence has waned since and he hasn’t managed to hold down a regular spot under Ross.

He still has 18 months to run on his contract but his future may well depend on whether the likes of Irvine are offered longer deals this summer.
