Stevie Mallan Hibs loan departure back on as talks recommence with Turkish club

Stevie Mallan’s loan move away from Hibs could be back on.

The midfielder’s temporary switch to Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor appeared to be off after the Super Lig side dragged their heels on a deal and kept Hibs waiting too long for their liking.

However, Edinburgh Live understands that talks are back on, although the move has yet to be agreed.

Mallan has found game time hard to come by in the Scottish Premiership this season, although had been included in Jack Ross ’ squads in recent weeks.

However, with the chance to play regularly abroad now back on, and the arrival of Jackson Irving further blocked his path to a midfield spot, his departure could be in the offing.

Ross said of the initially proposed deal last week after Hibs’ 1-0 defeat to Rangers: “He obviously looked like he was going overseas but that looks unlikely to happen now. It wasn’t somebody we were pushing out the door in any way so that’s why he was back involved tonight.”

But the situation has changed since then, with a loan move back on the cars and an option to buy permanently in the summer under discussion.
