Stevenston woman battling depression believes CBD oil has given her new lease of life

Stevenston woman Christine Slaven feels her life has turned around by following a healthier lifestyle – which includes CBD oil.

The 49-year-old described herself as a "zombie" while she was suffering from depression, anxiety and sleepless nights.

But now the mum-of-three says she has a new lease on life after joining a wild swimming group and incorporating a regimen of Nutrivive CBD oil for the past six months.

She said: “I’d been suffering from depression for many years and when my mum, Christine, died in 2020 I was heartbroken and distraught which made my depression extremely uncontrollable.

"The anxiety I felt took over my whole life and I hated being like that because I have an active job as an early years practitioner.

“I started to take the Nutrivive CBD oil and I was really surprised how effective the oil was and I’m so grateful for how it has helped me.

“I loved swimming when I was a teenager and I’d heard about a group called Wild Sea Women who meet up at various beaches on the Ayrshire coast and swim in the sea.

"I eventually plucked up the courage to join the group. Now I regularly go swimming in the sea as well as in my local swimming pool three or four times a week.”

Glasgow-based Nutrivive is run by brothers John and Harry McDonough.

The oil is legal, safe and non-addictive as it doesn’t contain the THC compound that gives the ‘high’ associated with smoking cannabis, or taking the drug in other forms.

Nutrivive CBD oil contains cannabidiol, which is the part of the cannabis plant with pain relieving, calming and healing properties.

Christine added: "I never used to get a full night’s sleep. Now I get a great, undisturbed rest when I go to bed.

“A good night’s sleep helps with your general health and well-being and aids your ongoing recovery.

"I'm still grieving for my mum but I believe the Nutrivive drops have taken away most of my anxiety and depression. I also feel more confident to do the things I wouldn’t have dared think about doing before.”

Next year, Christine is going to take part in a 1.7 mile charity swim in the sea between the Isle of Cumbrae and Largs to raise money for the Gillian’s Saltire Appeal – a charity that provides respite care for people who are living with cancer and their families.

Nutrivive co-owner Harry said: “It’s a fantastic feeling knowing that our CBD oil has made a difference to Christine and many other people’s lives."
