Steven Spielberg weighs in on Natalie Portman's Golden Globes shade about male directors

Steven Spielberg was one of the subjects of Natalie Portman's dig at the Golden Globes, but he knows she was right.

On Sunday, Portman pointed out on stage that the best director category _ which she was presenting _ was all male: Guillermo del Toro for "The Shape of Water," Martin McDonagh for "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," Christopher Nolan for "Dunkirk," Ridley Scott for "All the Money in the World" and Spielberg for "The Post."

The "Black Swan" star's comments came during a night that focus on women during a wave of sexual harassment and assault allegations in Hollywood.

"There's also a watershed happening right now, slowly, maybe not fast enough, for women directors," Spielberg told Entertainment Tonight.

"I mean you have Patty Jenkins. We have some amazing women that have come forward, you know 'Mudbound' and 'Lady Bird.' This is a pretty incredible year, and I think you'll be seeing some nominations. I'm predicting at the Oscars this year for a woman director, if not several."

Greta Gerwig's "Lady Bird" won two Globes, including best musical or comedy, and was nominated for two others.

Patty Jenkins and "Wonder Woman" grossed $409 million at the domestic box office.
