Steven Naismith 'touch and go' for Hearts' top of the table clash with Dundee

Striker Steven Naismith is a major doubt for Hearts' crucial Championship clash with Dundee.

The Scotland international limped off during the Jambos 1-1 draw at Inverness Caledonian Thistle Robbie Neilson 's side slumped to their third successive draw.

Naismith hasn't taken part in training this week and will be assessed before a decision is made.

Boss Neilson said: “Naisy could potentially train on Thursday, although he is more touch-and-go for the weekend.

“We’ll need to see how he is nearer Saturday.”

Right-back Michael Smith was also a notable absentee from training this week but could return to the Hearts ' starting XI this weekend.

Neilson continued: “We expect Michael to train on Thursday.

“We are just letting his problem settle down for a couple of days. He had a tight calf and was feeling his achilles a bit over the last week and it flared up during the game on Friday.

“He could have played on but the area was getting stiffer. Hopefully we’ve brought him off in time to make sure he’s okay for this weekend — I’m fairly sure we will have Michael.”

He added: "Liam Boyce also had a wee niggle after the Inverness game but he will train tomorrow and should be fine.”
