Steven Naismith offers Rangers 'not clicking' analysis as former Ibrox star issues Antwerp prediction

Former Rangers striker Steven Naismith believes something's "not clicking" in the Ibrox attack after a 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock took them one step closer to the title.

The league leaders now hold a 21-point advantage over rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, who play St Johnstone on Sunday.

With key attackers Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos both suspended to face Tommy Wright's men, Naismith believed they were left short up front as Ryan Jack's incredible volley proved the difference.

The Ibrox side have dropped as many points in their last six league games as they did in the 23 that preceded them, while also registering three 1-0 wins in that stretch.

Naismith is surprised by that but the Hearts veteran says his old club can do what his teams managed under Walter Smith and get the job done.

He told Sportscene: "It's that relationship Morelos and Roofe have with these wide players, they gamble all the time because they understand that they're going to get the ball.

"It seems a wee bit like it's not clicking, which is slightly surprising.

"When Rangers know they're four or five games away from the title...

"When I've been in that situation at Rangers, you just go and you churn out results and performances because you know you're close to the title."

But despite the narrow victory Naismith insists Steven Gerrard's men will put it to one side and turn in a quality showing against Royal Antwerp in the Europa League last 32 next week.

Rangers face the Flemish side in Belgium on Thursday night as they hope to at least match last season's achievement of making it past the first knockout round.

Naismith continued: "I think they've been good at separating the two, their domestic stuff and the European stuff.

"Their performances in Europe since the manager came in have been first class.

"I think a lot of the players will have a bit of a buzz to get back on the European stage and will push on."
