Craig Levein has given Hearts fans a boost by revealing talks over new deals for star duo Steven Naismith and Peter Haring are at an advanced stage.
On-loan Norwich striker Naismith , who is currently fighting to be fit for the Scottish Cup Final, is in discussions over a pre-contract agreement while Haring is close to extending his current deal beyond 2020.
Levein says he hopes to have both players' futures sorted in the coming days.
And he hasn't given up hope of convincing Arnaud Djoum to sign on again at Tynecastle as the midfielder nears the end of his contract.
“I’m trying to get Naismith and Haring sorted this week if we can. I don’t quite know if that will happen yet,” Levein told the Edinburgh Evening News .
“I’m trying not to have too many balls juggling in the air at the same time, so once I get those two sorted I’ve said to Arnaud I will then turn to sorting his things if it’s possible.
“The three things are all moving in the right direction. I’m further ahead with Naismith and Haring than I am with Arnaud. If we can deal with them then I can give Arnaud’s situation a bit more focus and time.”
Naismith has scored 16 times in 31 appearances this season and the Jambos' form has dipped dramatically since a recurrence of a knee injury ruled him out for the past two months.
Levein is prepared for the talismanic 32-year-old's battle to be fit for the May 25 clash with Celtic to go right down to the wire.
Austrian defender Haring joined from SV Ried last summer and quickly became a fans' favourite after a series of powerful displays.
