Steven Lawless has returned to Motherwell on a permanent deal

Motherwell have completed the signing of former academy graduate Steven Lawless from Burton Albion.

The 29 year-old made his professional debut for the 'Well in 2011 before moving to Partick Thistle where he flourished as a fans favourite making over 200 appearances.

Lawless made the move to England last summer after a successful spell at Livingston and he will join former teammate Liam Kelly at Motherwell after the goalkeeper joined last week.

The diminutive star will wear the number 14 jersey and will go straight into the squad for this weekend's clash against Rangers.

“It’s great to be back,” Lawless said after returning to Fir Park.

“It means a lot to me to be coming back to the club. I’m ready to get going and play my part in trying to get the team up the table.”
