Steven Jackson gets random drug test from NFL after signing 1-day contract

Before training camp practice kicked off on Monday, the Los Angeles Rams signed Steven Jackson to a one-day contract so he could retire as a member of the team he played nine years for. Jackson hasn’t played an NFL snap since 2015, but the league doesn’t appear to know that.

The former running back tweeted on Thursday that he was selected to take a random drug test for the NFL after he signed his one-day contract.

Needless to say, he won’t be submitting his sample to the league.

Ex-Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis couldn’t believe Jackson’s tweet, so he asked him if he was serious, just to make sure.

Jackson wasn’t kidding.

Asking a player who retired five years ago to take a drug test is certainly unusual, and not exactly a great look for the NFL. Jackson is still in phenomenal shape, but that isn’t grounds for a drug test.

He will, however, take the paycheck for his one day of “work.”
