Steven Gerrard 'wanted' for Tottenham talks but Rangers boss 'not willing' to leave Ibrox

Tottenham want to hold talks with Steven Gerrard over their vacant manager's job - but the Rangers boss isn't interested in going, according to a report.

Spurs have been on the lookout for a new boss since Jose Mourinho was sacked in April and have been turned down or missed out on a number of targets.

That included former Rangers midfielder Rino Gattuso, and now they've turned their attention to Gerrard.

But the Daily Star report that Spurs don't expect him to leave Rangers and reckon the Ibrox boss is unwilling to hold discussions because he has no interest in moving away from Glasgow just yet.

Gerrard's stock is high after his title winning campaign as well as Rangers' impressive performances in Europe as they reached the Europa League last 16 for the second year in a row.

The Rangers manager has spoken about his wish to build a legacy at Rangers and isn't interested in heading to London or anywhere else at present.

He's been tipped to eventually replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool but Gerrard has also insisted that would be further down the line because he isn't ready for it at present.
