Steven Gerrard urges Rangers to act over Glen Kamara amid Leeds United links

Steven Gerrard has urged Rangers to tie Glen Kamara's future to the club after an outstanding display against Lech Poznan.

Leeds United have been linked with the Finnish midfielder along with Everton and Juventus.

Kamara is currently under contract until 2023 but Gerrard is keen to keep him at Ibrox.

Gerrard singled the 25-year-old out for praise after the win over Poznan, calling on the board to act quickly.

He told Sky Sports: “I thought Glen Kamara again showed why everybody is talking about him and there's a lot of fuss about him.

Is everything okay with Pablo?

“I thought he was outstanding from start to finish and my advice to the club is to move that situation along as quickly as they can.”

Gerrard previously urged the board to sign Kamara up to a new contract in October, yet talks are not said to have progressed since then.

Speaking in October, Gerrard - who has been linked with Elland Road himself should Marcelo Bielsa one day leave - outlined his desire to keep Kamara at the club.

He said: “Glen is not going anywhere. We are going to offer him a new contract when the time is right.

“The plan was always to get this window out of the way before we spoke about that but Glen is aware of it.

“He is a fantastic player. We believe he is capable of playing for most teams out there, at any level. He is that talented.

“We want him to stay and be part of this in the short and long-term.

“We’re absolutely delighted with Glen and he deserves a new deal 100 per cent.”
