Rangers set to 'make an offer' for winger linked with Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest reportedly face fresh competition from Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers for rapid wide man Francis Amuzu.

Steven Gerrard is keen on taking the Anderlecht winger to Ibrox this January, according to reports from Voetball 24.

Earlier this month, Sports World Ghana reported that Forest have made an official approach to sign the 21-year-old who is understood to have a £3.6m release clause in his contract.

German sides Mainz and Koln, Dutch outfit AZ, and Evangelos Marinakis-owned Olympiacos are also reported to be interested in Amuzu.

The player, who is comfortable on either flank, is managed by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany at the Belgian giants.

The Ghana-born Belgian, who has represented his country at both under-19 and under-21 level, was first linked with the Reds in December.

A report by Sports World Ghana claimed: “English Championship side Nottingham Forest are tracking Anderlecht’s youngster Francis Amuzu in the ongoing January transfer window.

“SPORTSworldGhana.com understands that manager Chris Hughton is on the market looking for a right winger and has identified the Ghanaian-born Belgian youth star as a player who can fit the bill.

“An official approach has already been made by the English second tier side but Anderlecht are yet to respond as they are still studying the offer.”

The reports added that Amuzu’s contract expires in 2024 but has a release clause of 4million euros.

Rangers reportedly tried to sign the winger last summer, but they failed in their attempt to lure him to Ibrox but are expected to go back in for the player with a more tempting offer.
