Steven Gerrard has revealed Rangers are closing in on a new midfield signing.
The Ibrox boss suggested the club could announce its latest arrival before Thursday's Europa League play-off against Alashkert.
Gerrard wants to add further depth in the engine room to take the burden off the likes of Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo.
The manager appeared confident he's about to get his mystery man but stopped short of declaring a done deal.
"The progress is really good, it's strong," Gerrard said.
"I'm hoping to have some news in the coming days, but until it's done and dusted it's very hard to give you an exact time and date.
"I'm hoping for more positive news in the coming hours, maybe some time tomorrow.
"Maybe we'll have something to say around tomorrow's game – we'll just have to wait and see. But I don't want to get too carried away or ahead of myself as well.
"We've got a couple of players that are capable of dropping down and playing as hybrids, if you like.
"But it is an area where, come the end of the season after the amount and volume of games, we felt we were short at times.
"We did ask Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Joe Aribo to go above and beyond, and they did that.
"But I don't want to be as vulnerable as I was towards the back end of the season, I do want to have options, I do like top players in each position and if we can get this signing over the line in the coming days then I'll be really satisfied."
Gerrard, however, wouldn't be drawn on whether it was a loan deal or a permanent signing.
"We'll have to wait and see," he added.
