Steven Gerrard sets out Rangers transfer priorities as Ibrox boss eyes new faces to fight off Celtic backlash

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has warned he'll need new faces in the summer to fight off a Celtic backlash.

The Ibrox club secured a fourth Old Firm win of the season as they stuck four past the 10-man visitors in the final Premiership meeting of the campaign.

A summer rebuild is on the cards for Celtic with a new manager and sporting director, as well as an upheaval in the playing staff.

And while Gerrard is firmly focused on his own team he warned that investment will be needed in the summer to maintain Rangers ' place at the top of the table.

He said: "In terms of what happens across the road that's not really my business.

"But I'm certainly aware of what's going on over there and what type of reaction that side will be looking to go and do.

"We'll always respect that and prepare for it, and at Rangers recruitment never stops.

"I've been around the game long enough, even though I'm an inexperienced manager, to know that you can't stand still.

"We've got to identify areas of our group and our team where we can help them, where we can get stronger.

"We're not the finished article just because we've been fantastic in one league campaign and again we've been impressive in Europe.

"There are still areas and more consistency that we need to strive for.

"So it's my job and Ross (Wilson's) job, and the scouting network to identify players that can come and help this group because in year four it's key that you see new faces and fresh faces that can come and re-energise.

"Not just us but the fans and everyone connected to the club. So the answer to your question is yes. We will be striving to get better."
